BASHKIROPOMOSHCH
BASHKIROPOMOSHCH, the commission on social security of the population of Bashrepublic, ravaged during the Civil War. The commission worked under the representative of the Russian Central Executive Committee in Bashrevkom. Founded in December 1919 in Sterlitamak. B. listed people in need, distributed humanitarian aid through the network of Committees of the Affected Poor, opened food stations, hospitals and orphanages, and began the reconstruction of destroyed villages. The Central Directorate of B. in Sterlitamak and Canton Commissions of B. in the administrative centers of cantons did the administrative regulation. In 1920s, Bashrevkom defined the activity of B. as antirepublican and aiming at inciting discord between the poor and the rich. The Commission’s help to the Bashkirs was declared insignificant and the use of funds inappropriate. The Commission was liqui dated in 1920. Its functions were transferred to the ASBR Council of People’s Commissars.
