BASHKIR RESEARCH AND PRO­ DUCTION VETERINARY LABORATORY performs diagnostic examinations, estab‑ lishes therapeutic and preventive measures for infectious, invasive, and non‑infectious diseases of animals, develops recommen‑ dations on maintaining and improving livestock productiveness, performs radiological monitoring of facilities subject to vet. surveillance, analyzes food products for compliance with sanitary regulations, etc. Located in  Ufa.  Founded  in  1896  as a Veterinary and Bacteriological Lab. under the aegis of Ufa Gub. Administration; since 1991 has its current name. It consists of the departments of Bacteriology and Virology, Serology, Pathological Morphology and Leukosis Diagnostics, Biochemistry, Chemistry and Toxicology, Micology, Parasitology, Bee and Fish Diseases, Radiology, Veterinary Sanitary Examination, Food Certification Testing Centre. With the help of the B.r.a.p.v.l. specialists, such diseases as Brucellosis, Equine Infec. Anemia, Equine Sleeping Sickness, Malleus, etc were eliminated in Bashkortostan.
