BASHKIRSKY, reserve

BASHKIRSKY, reserve of federal value with the total area of 49.6 thous. ha within the territory of Burzyansky, Abzelilovsky and Beloretsky raions. It was organized to protect the rich flora and fauna of the South Urals, to study the acclimatized animal species and impact of the anthropogenic factor on nature (1929). In 1951 it was closed, a forestry was organized on its territory, in 1958 it was restored. In the same year the Pribelskiy branch (since 1986 — Shulgan­-Tash Reserve) was established. Since 1995, has its current name. The relief is represented by medium­ altitude mountains. There is an altitudinal zonation of landscapes on the ridges. Flora accounts for 680 species of higher vascular areas: 4 species of lycopsids, 6 — articulates, 16 — ferns, 4 — gymnosperms, about 650 — flowering plants. 20 relicts and 9 endemics were found. The following plants are included in The Red List of the RB: Cypripedium calceolus, Calypso bulbosa, Stipa zalesskii, Neottianthe cu- cullata, etc. Fauna accounts for 28 species of fish, 196 — birds, 54 — mammals, etc, of which 56 species are widely spread. Wild boar, red deer, Neovison and ondatra are acclimatized. The Red List of the RB includes animals, of which 15 species are mentioned in The Red List of the RF.
