THE BASHKIR BRANCH OF KUIBYSHEV RAILWAY. It performs the carriage of cargo (oil and petroleum products account for more than 50%) and passengers using railway transport. It is one of the largest enterprises of the Kuibyshev Railway (KRW) and of the Russian Railways. The length of railway lines is 1,476 km, electrified lines – 952 km. Founded in 1949 as Ufa Railways that united Abdulino, Bugulma, Dyoma, Sterlitamak, and Ulyanovsk branches. In 1959, in connection with the consolidation of the country railways, the Ufa Railways (Dyoma and Sterlitamak branches, part of the Ulyanovsk and Abdulino branches) became part of the KRW. Since 2010, the Bashkir Region of KRW became a branch of OAO Russian Railways.
