BELORETSK METALLURGICAL PLANT, AO. One of the key manufacturers of metalware in the RF. Produces long rolled products, wire made of various steels, microwire, tape, ropes, nails. Founded in 1762 as Beloretsk Ironworks Plant. In 1940, Beloretsk Metallurgical and Tyrlyansky Sheet Rolling (formerly ironworks) plants, Tukansky Mine and narrowgauge railway were combined into B.m.p. In 1958, Beloretsky Steel Wire Rope (former Wire-Nail) Plant became a part of the integrated plant. Up to 2002, it was the only enterprise in the RF with full metallurgical cycle: from mining of iron ore, iron and steel smelting to the manufacture of metal products. Since 2003, it has been a member of OAO Mechel Group (Moscow). The production of roller bearing steel using openhearth method, steel double remelting of BP brand (Beloretskaya Pervorodnaya); highalloyed stain less spring wire, highstrength reinforcement steel, galvanized wire rope, made of precision alloys; metal cord for reinforcement of automobile and aircraft tires; high strength ropes, etc was mastered in the company for the first time in the domestic practice. Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1966).
