LIBRARY FOR THE BLIND Special Republican. Located in Ufa. It was established in 1935 in the premises of City Library No. 18. It has branches in Belebey, Beloretsk, Sterlitamak and 50 libraries in towns and raions of the RB. By 2017, there were more than 258 thousand units, about 87 thousand books printed in reliefand point font (according to Braille’s system), more than 3 thousand units – in enlarged font; more than 15 thousand units – in the languages of the peoples of Russia, including about 5 thousand units in the Bashkir language; over 34 thousand units – on electronic media. Up to 5 thousand readers are serviced every year, including via home delivery and online subscriptions. Since 1992, books in Bashkir and Russian (printed in relief-and-point font (illustrated since 2003) have been published in the library; audio books have been recorded, restored and reproduced. Since 2000, it is an educational technologies development centre for disabled people in the RB.
