LIBRARIES, informational, cultural, educational institutions, which have an organized fund of documents of general circulation and provide them for temporary use to individuals and legal entities. By 2017, there were 1584 public L. (1470 of them were rural) under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the RB with a total fund of 30 million units; including the network of specialized Children’s (104) and Youth (15) L., 56 centralized library systems (12 integrated city and district libraries, 35 district and 9 city ones); as well as 11 Trade­Union and 1908 school L. The largest L. of the Republic are the Zaki Validi National Library (the fund is over 3.2 million units), the L. of the Bashkir State University (over 1.4 million units), the Ufa State Aviation Technical Univer­ sity (over 1 million units), the Ufa State Petroleum Technological University (over 1 million units), the Scientific Lib­rary of the Russian Academy of Sciences (over 700 thousand units), the L. of the Medical University (over 500 thousand units). L. of the Republic has a universal fund of all kinds and types of publications on various media.
