BIISH
BIISH, a Bashk. folk song, uzun-kyuy. First recorded by A.S.Klyucharev in 1933, published in the Bashkort Khalk Yirdary digest. Lyric and epic song. According to the legend, the main character of the song, Biish, fought against the rich and hid from the persecution of the authorities. The tune is characterized by diatonicity, light majo rity, wide melodies moves, and accented rhythmics. B. arrangements were made by Klyucharev, R.A.Murtazin, and Rakhimov for voice and symph. orchestra, and S.G.Sha giakhmetova for voice and piano. The B. melody is used in the following ballets: Gornaya Byl by A.S.Klyucharev, Gulnazira by N.G.Sabitov, Crane Song and Aykhylu opera by M.M.Valeyev and N.I.Peyko.
