BIKBAYEV, Ravil Tukhvatovich (12.12.1938, Derevnya Verkhne­-Kunakbaevo of Orenburg Oblast — 23.4.2019 in Ufa). People’s poet of the RB (1993). Associate Member of the AS RB (2008) and Doctor of Science (Philology, 1996). Merited Master of Sciences of the RB (1997), Merited Cultural Sector Professional of the Chuvash Republic (2003). Laureate of the BASSR Awards named after Salavat Yulayev (1989), named after G.Salyam (1970), named after R.Garipov (1992), named after Z.Bii­sheva (2003). Awarded with the Order of Honour (2009), Order of Friendship (2000), Order for Merits to the Republic of Bashkortostan (2008), and Order of Salavat Yulayev (2003). Member of the Union of Writers of the RB. Graduated from BSU (1962). Since 1965, Researcher at the Institute of History, Language and Literature; between 1995—2011, the Executive Board Chairman of the Union of Writers of the RB. Author of the following poetic collections: Steppe Vistas (1964) and Flight of a Single Bird (2003). Created the text of the national anthem of the RB (together with R.Shakur). The author of the following research papers: Evolution of Modern Bashkir Poetry (1991), Shaykhzada Babich: Life and Works (1995), The Poet’s Word — the Poet’s Conscience (1997), Rami (2008), etc. Deputy of State Assembly — Kurultay of the RB of the 4th convocation. Bashkir gimnasium no.102 (Ufa) was named after him. The Government of the Republic of Bashkortostan has established 2 scholarships named after B. (2020).
