BOLSHOY IREMEL
BOLSHOY IREMEL (Kaban, in translation from the Bashkiri dialect, and Mongolian — stone saddle), the second highest mountain peak in the Bashkir (South) Urals, a natural monument (1965). It is located 16 km SE of Selo Nikolayevka of Beloretsky Raion. Abs. alt. — 1,582 m. Zherebchik spur lies to the northwest, Sinyak (from Russian — blue) to the southwest rivers Karagayka (tributary of the Yuryuzan River) and Tygyn (basin of the Belaya River) originate at the foot of the mountain. There is an altitudinal zonation of land scapes. There are endemics: Lagotis uralensis, Rhodiola iremelica, Saussurea uralensis, Cerastium krylovii, Hieracium iremelense, etc; relicts: Dryas octopetala, Salix arctica, Pedicularis oederi, Andro- sace lehmanniana, Koeleria ledebourii Domin, etc.
