BOLSHOY SHELOM (translated from early Russian as — hill, hump), the third highest mountain peak in the Bashkir (South) Urals, the highest point of the Zigalga range. Abs. alt. — 1,427 m, length — approx. 3 km, width — 2.2 km. In the relief up to the height of 900 m there are gentle feet, above 1,000 m there are narrow steep slopes, above 1,400 m there is a flat peak on the small spur of the south­west direction; there are stone rivers and stony placers. The tributaries of the B. Katav River (basin of the Yuryuzan River) originate at the foot. There is an altitudinal zonation of landscapes.
