BURANBAY, a Bashk. folk song, uzun kyuy. First recorded by S.G.Rybakov in 1894, published in his The Music and Songs of Ural Muslims with an Essay of Their Everyday Life book. Lyric and epic song. Dedicated to Buranbaysesen, the 6th Bashk. Canton Yurt Foreman, who was unfairly accused of office abuse and sen tenced to exile in Siberia, on the way to which he escaped. Melody is masterfully ornamented and has a wide range (2 octaves). The B. song performance is considered a top stone of the vocal art. The B. arrangements were made by Kh.F.Akhmetov, M.M.Va leyev, R.Kh.Gazizov, K.Yu.Rakhimov for voice and piano, and N.A.Dautov for choir and symph. orchestra. The melody of the song is used by Akhmetov in the Suite for violin and piano and in the Crane Song ballet.
