BURZYANSKY RAION
BURZYANSKY RAION, located on SE of the RB, in the central part of the Bashkir (Southern) Urals. Established on August 20, 1930. Abolished February 1, 1963 with the transfer of the territory to the Beloretsky Raion. Newly established on November 4, 1965. Territory — 4,444 km2. Adm. centre — Selo Starosubkhangulovo, which is located 360 km SE of Ufa and 136 km SW of Beloretsk Railway Station. Population — 16.5 thous. people (2017).
In 2018, the area of agricultural lands amounted to 27.1 thous. ha (6.0% of the total area), including arable lands — 4.2, hayfields — 18.3, pastures — 4.5; forests area — 321.0 and surface waters — 1.8. Agricultural enterprises [2 APCs, 78 peasant (farmer) farms] specialize in cattle breeding. Beekeeping, wild honey farming and tourism are well developed. In B.r., there are: Burzyansky Consumer Cooperative; MUP Alakuyan, such touristic companies as The Land of Bashkirs and Kapovatur, etc. Highways: Kaga—Staro subkhangulovo and Sermenevo—Starosub khangulovo.
There are: a vocational school, 6 general education schools with 17 — branches, 8 — preschool educational institutions and 16 preschool groups operating in the premises of the general education schools, children’s arts school, a youth sports school; a central hospital, a rural outpatient hospital, 26 medical and obstetrical centers; 27 clubs, 24 libraries, and the M.Sagitov Museum. In the Raion, there are 5 folk and 2 exemplary amateur art groups.
