BUKHARSKY (Galimov), Haziakhmet Girfanutdinovich (1.1.1899, Derevnya Satlamyshevo of Kazan Gub. — 13.5.1974, Ufa), Actor, Director. Merited Artist of the RSFSR (1957), People’s Artist of the BASSR (1944). Awarded with the Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1955). Between 1931— 33, he studied at Moscow Theatrical Work Training Center. Between 1923—68 — an Actor, Stage Dir., Administrator, Dir. and Artistic Managing Dir., Head of the BSAT museum; simultaneously between 1926— 52, he worked as a Teacher at the Bashk. Theatre Art School.
He made a significant contribution to the establishment of the Bashk. stage art. B., being the virtuoso of stage technique, who played over 100 diverse roles, was dis tinguished by the ability to deeply reveal the inner nature of the character, high lighting colors and details. His directing works testify of the breadth of B.’s creative range: one of his best plays was Othello by W.Shakespeare. B. imparted modern twist to any stage work, highlighting the social aspect of the play.
