VALEYEV, Lek Valeyevich, L.V.Valiyev (19.4.1935, Posyolok Rayevka of Alsheyevsky Raion of the BASSR, now Selo Rayevsky of Alsheyevsky Raion of the RB, — 23.3.1992, Ufa), Director. Merited Artist of the RSFSR (1978) and BASSR (1972). Author of a number of plays. Laureate of the BASSR Award named after Salavat Yulayev (1983). Graduated from the Moscow Institute of Land Management Engineers (1959), Leningrad Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinematography (1965). Between 1965—87 (with an interval) — a Stage Dir.; between 1971—81 — Chief Stage Dir. at BSAT; between 1969—71 — Chief Stage Dir. at Salavat Bashk. Drama Theatre; since 1987 — worked at Sibay Bashk. Drama Theatre; since 1990 — at Bashkortostan Puppet Theatre; simultaneously since 1965 — a teacher at the Ufa School of Arts; between 1972—85 and 1989—92 — a teacher at USIA. V.’s artistic skill of a stage director was distinguished by his striving for the most complete disclosure of characters, for the exact psychological and social motivation of stage action, for the integrity of the artistic plan. V.’s creative activities blossomed when he was working at the Bashkir Drama Theatre.
