VARFOLOMEYEV, Dmitry Fyodorovich (24.9.1918, Selo Zabolotie of Ryazan Gub. – 7.5.1992, Ufa), Chemical Technologist. D.Sci. (Engineering Sciences) (1975), Full Professor (1981). Merited Master of Science and Technology of the RSFSR (1981) and the BASSR (1967), Merited Worker of Petroleum and Petrochemical Industry of the USSR (1967), Merited Petrochemist of the USSR (1978). Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1971), Order of the October Revolution (1975), Order of the Red Banner of Labour (1959), Order of the Badge of Honour (1966). Participated in the Great Patriotic War. After graduating from the Ural Polytechnic Institute (Sverdlovsk City, 1948) he worked at the Ufimsky Refinery (since 1955 as Dir.). Since 1964 Dir. of the Research Institute of Industrial Engineering, since 1966 – of Ufimsky Refinery named after the 22nd CPSU Congress, between 1977–88 – of BashNIINP. Scientific and industry activities were dedicated to the problems of petroleum coke and bitumen preparation, corrosion protection of petro leum refining equipment, preparation of ca talysts. The production of individual aromatic hydrocarbons, synthetic fatty acids, oleum, alkylphenolic additives, pyromellitic dianhydride was mastered for the first time in the Republic under the leadership of V. at the Ufimsky Refinery named after 22nd CPSU Congress. The Academy of Sciences of the RB established the award named after V.
