VAKHRUSHEV, Georgy Vasilyevich [30.11.1894, Derevnya Nekrasovka of Sterlitamaksky Uyezd of Ufa Gub. – 6.5.1966, Ufa], Geologist. Dr.Sci. (Geology and Mineralogy) (1942), Full Professor (1943). Merited Master of Sciences of the BASSR (1945), Excellent Worker of Public Education of the RSFSR (1945). Awarded with the Order of Lenin (1954). Graduated from the Kazan University (1927). Since 1931, he worked at the Bashkir Geological Prospecting Trust, since 1934 – at the Bashkir RI of Industry. Since 1938 at the Saratov University. Between 1951–56 Chairman of the Presidium at the Bashkir Branch of the AS USSR, simultaneously, until 1954 Dir. of the Mining and Geological Institute, between 1952–61 a Teacher at the BAI. V. compiled the first stratigraphic scheme of the Mesozoic and Cenozoic deposits of the Western Bashkortostan. V. described the thermal phenomena of the Yangantau Mountain, the multicolored weathering crust and the karst processes in the South Urals. Deputy of the 4th Session of the Supreme Council of the USSR and of the 3rd Session of the Supreme Council of the BASSR. The Academy of Sciences of the RB established an award named after him.
