WIND FARM, a cluster of several distributed or concentrated wind power plants (generators) connected to a common grid (cascades); the wind speed must exceed 4.5 m/s. In the late 1980s – 1990s the Bashkir branch of the Vitroen Group of Companies (Ufa), in cooperation with 24 companies of the Republic, launched the production of wind plants with a capacity of 16 and 30 kW (for export). Tyupkildy W.f. (4 wind power units with a capacity of 550 kW each) constructed by Bashkirenergo Enterprise, has been operated in the Tuymazinsky Raion since 2002.
