WAVES OF AGIDEL

WAVES OF AGIDEL (Agidel Tulkyndary), opera by Z.G.Ismagilov in 4 acts. Written in 1969. The premiere of W.o.A. took place in Bashkir State Opera and Ballet Theatre on February 24th, 1972 (libretto by M.Karim, musical director and conductor – G.Kh.Mutalov, stage director – R.A.Valiullin, scenographer – M.N.Arslanov, choirmaster – L.Kh.Iskhakova, ballet master – F.M.Sattarov). The action takes place in the 60s of the 20th century. The plot is based on a moral and ethical conflict between the young and morally pure Gulzifa and her beloved – egocentric Zaynulla, leading to the death of the heroine. An important place is the images of nature and rural life. In 1973, the composer of W.o.A. was awarded the RSFSR State Award named after M.I.Glinka.
