GARIPOV, Talmas Magsumovich (b.31.7. 1928, Moscow), Linguist. Associate Member of the AS RB (1991), Dr. of Letters(1974), Full Professor (1979). Merited Scientist of the RF (1992) and BASSR (1983). Graduated from MSU (1952). Between 1956—65, he worked at the Institute of History, Language and Literature, since 1966 — at BSU, since 1980 — at BSPU. His scientific research was dedicated to the comparative historical study of the Turkic languages of the Ural‑Volga Region, to the problems of grammar, etymology of the Bashkir language, to the history of the Bashkir linguistics, etc. The first Champion of the BASSR (1966) in badminton.
