“KARAVANSARAY”, Bashkir ethnic song, uzun-kuy. First registered by M.I. Sultanov in the 1910s, published in his book “Bashkir and Tatar tunes” (1916). The song is lyroepic. The origin of “K.S.” is connected with the construction of the Orenburg Caravan-Sarai. There are several variants of “K.S.” poetic text. The main theme of the most popular variant is love. The tune is mildly ornamented, has a small range of sounds and a metro beat variable structure. The musical adaptations of “K.S.” for choir and orchestra were made by M.M. Valeev, for solo and piano by A.T. Karimov, for a capella choir by A.V. Fere. A.S. Klucharev used the melody in his Fantasia on “K.S.” theme for Symphony Orchestra, and Y.Z. Bikberdin used it in the self-titled dance.
