NON‑FAIRYTALE ETHNIC PROSE

NON‑FAIRYTALE ETHNIC PROSE. It is represented by bylichkas, lore, stories-memories and other folklore genres. Motifs of Bashkir folklore were partly borrowed by Russian tellers and storytellers of other RB peoples who had moved to the territory in the 18–19th c. The popular plots are – protests against destruction and colonization of the lands, against building cities, stories about the tsar decree proclaiming the Bashkir rights for the lands and natural properties, about trading lands in the size of a “bull’s sclan”, outrageous plant workers, fight for social independence and native lands, origin of natural objects and phenomena, clans and clan communities, toponyms. Poetics of N.e.p. is syncretic: it is historical, socially addressed and public on the one hand (lore about the Stroganovs – the plant workers, about Demidov, Ismail Tasimov, Nadira Urazmetova – the ore industry workers, gold finders, the Peasant war of 1773–75, Salavat Yulayev, about the Patriotic war of 1812 (Bayt of the French war, Lubizar, etc.), about Kakhym-turya (Kakhym-turya) etc.; on the other hand it is fantastic what makes N.e.p closer to the genre of fairytale (lore about gold, Master of treasure, the Moon’s origin, Amin Kolmurzin – the ethnic defender – “Blacksmith Amin and Head Bragin”, “How blacksmith Amin outwitted Bragin”, etc.). It also has inter-genre connections with fairytales, anecdote, prohibitions, ethnic song, signs, etc. Fairytale motifs are significant for N.e.p. structure and aim to ideologically and aesthetically assess events from the prospective of ethnic ideals. The elements of legendary historical narrative can be found in fairytale plots which creates the basis for new fairytale interpretations. The interactions of N.e.p.are clearly observed in the art of writers (see Literature and folklore).
