SAYING
SAYING is a saying figuratively defining the essence of objects or phenomena, primarily from the prospective of its quality. Although I. usually describes typical situations, it also has certain specific meaning. I. like a proverb becomes specific through the context of speech, it is often used in its figurative meaning, but it does not contain general meaning and clear didactic sense, unlike a proverb: “You are a Mullah, I am Mulla, but who will feed the horse?” (Bashk.) “A cat’s favorite Maslenitsa does not last forever, Lent changes it” (Rus.); “Don’t discuss others, but yourself” (Udm.); “Let her be even gray-haired, but from another village” (Ukr.) etc. It exists in folklore of many peoples.
