RUSSIAN FOLKLORE SONGS of people from RB is mostly characterized by the features common for the whole traditional Russian ethnic art. There are many different historical songs that reflect crucial periods in history of the culture long since the Tatar-Mongol invasion. There are also family-household plangent (or vocal) lyrical and satiric, recruit and military, dancing and round-dancing songs. Family-household ceremonial poetry and calendar poetry include giving-a-name, spelling and congratulation songs (kolyadkas, ovsens, tausens, vinogradyes, vesnyankas). Collection of Russian folklore started in the 1830’s by V.I. Dal, poet N.M. Yazykov and his brothers A.M. and P.M. Yazykovs. The songs registered by the Yazykovs in Novoselki village, Ufimskiy District were later included into P.V.Kireyevskiy’s collection. Ignatyev, V.S. Kasimovskiy (songs and spells, Duvan village, Zlatoustovskiy District), M. Kolesnikov (folklore of Belebeyevskiy District) were registering the folklore samples in the 2nd part of the 19th c. Rybakov was registering the folklore of Russian peoples including Russians on the edge of the 19–20th c. Russian wedding ceremonies held in Ufimskaya District and lyrics of the songs were registered by A. Umov. Folklore of plant workers from Beloretsk, Kaga and Tirlyan was collected by G.P. Beloretskiy in the late 1890’s.

D.K. Zelenin was studying the peculiarities of old believers at the Isen-Ivanovskiy plant, Belebeyevskiy District in May, 1904. Russian folklore in Bashkortostan has been being studied since the 1930’s. Bash-SRI of language and literature (headed by N.P. Kolpakova) led an expedition in 1938 to research song and prose folklore of Russians from Beloretskiy,

Baymakskiy and Khaybullinskiy Districts: 19 songs were published in “Lyric of Russian wedding” collection (L., 1973). The folklore songs of Russians collected on the territory were also included into the “Russian ethnic art in Bashkiria” collection (edited by E.V. Pomerantseva; Ufa, 1957), “Evening dawn” (edited by I.V. Karpukhina; Sterlitamak, 2000) and in “Chastushkas spoke by Russians” (Ufa, 2006), “Chastushkas in Bashkortostan at the edge of millenium” (Ufa, 2011), Russian childrenf olklore in Bashkortostan”, etc. They reflect the problems of relationships between Russian and Bashkir, Tatar, Chuvash singing, etc. L.I. Bryantseva, F.G. Galiyeva, T.I. Rozhkova, S.A. Moiseyeva also dedicated their work to study Russian song tradition in Bashkortostan. Folklore ensembles of E.s., such as “Maryana”,”Tausen”,”Berestinochka” (Belokatayskiy District), “Russian bells” (Belebey), “Apple tree” family ensemble (Belebey), “Zdravitsa” choir of Russian song (Ufimskiy District), “Viburnum flowers”, “Zoryanitsa” (Arkhangelskiy District), “Kalinushka” (Birsk), “Khustochka” (Iglinskiy District), “Springs” (Mishkinsky District), etc. were created to make Russian E.s. more popular.
