VITAMINONOUS PLANTS
VITAMINONOUS PLANTS, the plants, which are used as a source of vitamins for humans and animals, as well as other raw materials for the production of vitamin products. A number of plants with high vitamin content are included in The Red List of the RB, such as relict twistedleaf onion, ramson, flatfruited fenugreek, etc. The study of V.p. in the Republic began in the middle of 1930s by the participants of the Bashkortostan Complex Expedition (A.N.Bogdanov, S.F.Kurnaev, etc). Since the 1950s the studies on V.p. have been conducted at the Botanic Garden Institute. The study of vitamin C content was conducted in more than 150 plant species by E.N.KlobukovaAlisova and in rosehip by N.M.Muryseva, since 1990s the studies on biological features of hawthorns species (R.F.Vafin) and onion (L.A. Tukhvatullina, S.S.Hayretdinov) have been conducted. In the same years, the pharmacological research of medicinal plants containing vitamins was performed at the Medical University by I.A.Lerman, H.M.Nasyrov, etc. The Scientists of the Republic have identified new places of growth, resources and developed measures for the rational use of raw materials of cranberry tree, burnet bloodwort, twistedleaf onion, common yarrow, cinnamon rose, etc. The study of V.p. is conducted at the Bashkir State University and the Biology Institute.
